Story
I wrote this song kind of about a friend’s breakup, which happened just as I was starting to date the woman who is now my wife. I guess in my case, there *was* water in the pool, but when you first take that dive, there’s really no way of knowing.
It was also an early experiment with Acid, the Windows-based looping software, in which I figured out you could get some interesting drum sounds by fiddling with the pitch and speed of samples. I’m pretty sure it’s done with an altered tuning on the guitar – same one on the instrumental “September.”
